Neillsville junior, Jenny Lindner has verbally committed to play Division 1 basketball at UW-Milwaukee. SportScene 13's Jenn Chapman caught up with the Warrior standout in this week's Gordy's Athlete of the Week.

"From a small community like this, it's really incredible and not many people do it," says Lindner, "and I'm just glad that my work ethic really paid off."

The 5'11 guard averaged over 15 points and 4 rebounds per game but her attitude speaks more than her numbers.

"If something goes wrong in the game, she doesn't get down and she'll help everyone around her get back up," says teammate Katelyn Crothers. "Like in the state game she kept encouraging us and helping us move forward."

The Warriors brought home the state championship in 2012 in Division 4. This past year in Division 3, they went to the state semifinals, but with Jenny and 8 other juniors back next year, they look to add another gold ball to the trophy case.

"I've been playing with them since elementary school, so we all get along really well. We know how each other plays so we can deliver the passes to where we need them," says Lindner.

"I feel really confident with our JV and Freshman, they all had tremendous season too and we all just work really well together," she adds.

Jenny played a key role in the Warriors 54 game winning streak, by commanding the attention of opposing teams defenses.

"Even with a great individual player, no team accomplishes what we've been fortunate enough to accomplish without being good teammates as well," says Neillsville girls basketball coach, John Gaier. "And Jenny has certainly at times even diverted attention from herself to her teammates, which has made her a great teammate to play with."

"It gives the other players more of an opportunity to score the ball and shine in the spotlight. But the other teams try to stop her but they usually can't stop her. She' s just one of those girls that she will get to the hoop," adds teammate Caitlynne Naughton.
