"I get nervous. The first two innings of the state championship game I was really nervous, my glove was shaking," says Westin Wuethrich.

Those nerves quickly subsided for Greenwood pitcher, Westin Wuethrich in the Division 4 state championship game.

"He's the best pitcher in the conference." says teammate Tyler Johnson. "When he's on the mound, we think we're going to do great and you know he's going to usually lead us to a victory."

Wuethrich threw 11 strike-outs in 6 innings leading the Indians to a Division 4 state title.

Winning a state title is familiar territory for Westin, he was a part of the 2011 state championship football team for Greenwood-Granton.

"It helped a lot actually, the huge crowds, and the nerves rolling through you, the just whole atmosphere of playing in front of a lot of people and playing on TV," says Wuethrich.

"He's more than just a great baseball player, he's a great athlete," says Greenwood baseball coach, Kent Hinker. "What makes him good is he's very coachable. He can learn, he's a great learner. He's just a great athlete is what he is."

Wuethrich will take his game to the next level at Madison College in the fall. He says the journey for Greenwood players begins when they are young.

"We start off as little kids looking up to players, much older than us, in little league, elementary school, middle school. Everybody wants to be just like the high school kids," says Wuethrich.

"That's all we do. Small town, you know, you gotta be good at something. And baseball happens to be our thing and that's all we do, baseball, baseball, baseball," adds Johnson.
