Athlete of the Week: Wisconsin Badgers Men's Basketball

The eyes of an entire state will be on the Wisconsin men's basketball team as they play in the Final Four this weekend down in Texas. With their first Final Four appearances in 14 years, The Badgers are our Gordy's Athletes of the Week.

The Wisconsin badgers are looking to get to the teams second ever NCAA championship game. Despite a two seed, the Badgers feel that they are not getting the respect they deserve as they get set to face the eight seed Kentucky Wildcats.

Junior guard Traevon Jackson likes his team’s chances against the Wildcats. "We've got a great opportunity. We've come together, and we're just trying to accomplish something that hasn't been done here in a while. In order to do that, we've got to stay focused on what we've been doing and just staying internally focused on what we can control."

Josh Gasser agrees with Jackson "Being in the Final Four, you've obviously done something right. Kentucky deserves the credit of being of good team, and I think so do we. We've beaten a ton of good teams this year, and I think that speaks for itself."

Badgers are preparing for a Kentucky squad is young and athletic but Sam Dekker thinks that if they play at the same high level they have all tournament, they can get a win in the Final Four.

"They've got good size and everyone knows that. We have guys that are going to fight and claw and do anything they can to get a win. When you got guys on the court that are with you on the same mind set, it doesn't really matter how big you are, it just matters how much you want it and how much you're willing to fight for it."
