"I know that tennis is a life sport so I'll be playing it for the rest of my life."

Eau Claire Memorial senior Sydney Wolfe admires how her parents have continued playing tennis since they were her age, that admiration has led to her dedication to the game.

Old Abes tennis coach Jim Litscher says, "She's got great strokes, she's got great movements, she's worked on her game, every time she steps out we expect her to play well."

Sydney also tries to emulate another tennis player, Roger Federer, as she hopes to duplicate his demeanor on the court. Wolfe says, "I try to strive for being the same on the court, not showing emotion of getting mad or upset, just trying to stay calm and positive in a strong, fighter, confident image on the court."

SportScene 13's Jenn Chapman explains, "Sydney Wolfe is no stranger to the state tournament, she's already made three appearances, but personal achievements aside, she still has a team first attitude."

Wolfe says, "I enjoy that it's just you sometimes because then you can work from it, but it's also a team thing so you can always help each other, if one person is down, your teammates can help so it's never just you."

Her coach agrees, "We try to emphasize that tennis is a team sport first here at Memorial, it's an individual sport as well. She pretty much symbolizes that."

Sydney's goal is to improve at state but get her team there as well. For Athlete of the Week, Jenn Chapman for SportScene 13.
