Eau Claire Memorial boys soccer coach David Kite says, "It's been a great team effort from the Old Abes, but soccer does allow moments of brilliance for individuals..."
For coach David Kite and the Memorial boys soccer team, they are off to an amazing start, 7-0-1 in eight games, the Old Abes getting some clutch goal scoring from junior's Mandela Cronk and Scott Nicolai while sophomore Marcus Wollak has been the catalyst in making Memorial go.
Marcus Wollak says, "We're a very young team, this is just the beginning of our season, we're just going to stay modest, keep getting better, play better as a team."
Cronk leads the team with seven goals while Nicolai has tallied four times, the two say their games compliment each other.
Mandlenkosi Cronk says, "He's got the rocket left, he's got the great footwork.. a little better than mine, pleasure playing with him."
Scott Nicolai says, "He's definitely got the speed, I just try to play him through balls, give him the ball so he can run."
And while the Old Abes have yet to reach the midway point of their season, their goals are clear, making it to state.
David Kite says, "There's a great commitment level here from the boys as always and as young and successful as this season has been there's plenty of areas of improvement and the boys come to practice each day looking to make this team stronger and stronger."
