Vikings Lose to Eagles 23-16, QB Holcomb Injured

The Minnesota Vikings were down to their Number Three quarterback by the end of today's 23-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Starter Tarvaris Jackson was deactivated because of a broken index finger on his throwing hand sustained last week against Dallas.

Veteran Kelly Holcomb made his third start of the season in Jackson's place, but he was knocked out of the game in the third quarter on a sack by Juqua Thomas. Holcomb's head slammed hard against the turf and he injured his neck.

Backup Brooks Bollinger came out to take Holcomb's place.

Coach Brad Childress says Holcomb's injury is "similar to whiplash" and he will be evaluated tomorrow, as will receiver Bobby Wade with a hyperextended knee and right tackle Ryan Cook with a sprained left knee.
