When I-94 rivals UW-Stout and UW-Eau Claire square off this Saturday at Carson Park, there will be much at stake for the Blue Devils and Blugolds. The two teams that were picked to finish at the bottom of the WIAC have been the two surprise teams in the conference. Stout is 4-and-5, 3-and-3 in the WIAC, while Eau Claire is 7-and-2 overall, 4-and-2 in conference play. The Blugolds are ranked 25th in Division 3 and with a victory Saturday have a chance, albeit remote that Eau Claire could earn a post-season playoff berth. Saturday's game will be an exciting one for former UW-Eau Claire star quarterback Sean Hoolihan, the Spring Valley native who helped lead Eau Claire to a conference championship and trip to the NCAA Final Four back 1998 is now on the other sideline, in his first-year as offensive coordinator for the Blue Devils.
