Menomonie Falls In State Semifinals

In the WIAA Division 2 Football Playoffs, the Menomonie Indians couldn't hold off the explosive Kimberly offense. The Papermakers advance to state with a 35-14 win.

It was the Indians offense striking first. Jared Saul hooked up with Ben Otto for 47 yards and a touchdown for a 7-0 Menomonie lead.

But later in the first quarter, the Papermakers answered. Tyler Wolf hit Anthony Englebert on a swing pass, and Englebert scampered 15 yards for the game-tying touchdown.

And later in the quarter, Kimberly got the go ahead score on a risky 4th and 17 attempt. Wolf connected with Matt Maigatter for the touchdown and a 14-7 Kimberly lead.

Wolf would strike again in the half, hitting Mike Beavers for a touchdown and a 21-7 Papermakers lead at the half.

After a scoreless third, Menomonie threatens in the fourth quarter. Saul found John Heimler for an Indians touchdown to make it a 21-14 game.

But in the waning minutes of the game, Kimberly tacked on two more touchdowns, pulling away to win 35-14.
