The UW-Eau Claire Men's Basketball Team put up a school-record 132 points against Grinnell College in the first round of the Wartburg Tournament in Waverly, Iowa. You'd think that would be enough to earn a win... but surprisingly, it wasn't.
Terry Gibbons' Blugolds lost 137-132 in the highest-scoring game in UW-Eau Claire history. The high-scoring affair was nothing new for the Grinnell Pioneers... They have been the highest scoring team in division three for the past several years, and defending Midwest Conference Champions.
UW-Eau Claire was led by Dan Beyer with 35 points, but the other glaring stat in the game was 35 turnovers on behalf of the Blugolds.
They will meet the loser of the Aurora/Wartburg game in Saturday's consolation game.
