Philadelphia shortstop Jimmy Rollins was named NL MVP today in a close race over Colorado leftfielder Matt Holliday when voting by the Baseball Writers Association of America was announced.
Brewers first baseman Prince Fielder finished third.
Rollins claimed 16 first-place votes and finished with 353 points in the balloting. Holliday had 11 firsts and totaled 336 points. Fielder had the remaining five first-place votes from the 32 voting writers and had 284 points.
