Dusty Wahl rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns as Bethel defeated Wisconsin-Eau Claire 21-to-12 today in the second round of the Division III playoffs.
Wahl was the first to score in the game with a 3-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Wisconsin-Eau Claire answered later in the quarter on Cory Sartorelli's 1-yard run with 1:55 remaining to tie the score.
The Blugolds pulled ahead in the second quarter on Craig Kolb's 22-yard field goal, but Royals quarterback Ben Wetzell then took a short run into the endzone for a 14-to-10 lead.
Wisconsin Eau-Claire reached within 2 on a team safety, but Bethel answered with a 74-yard play that ended with an 11-yard touchdown run by Wahl to give the Royals a 21-12 lead with under three minutes remaining.
Bethel advances to the regional final to play Central College, which defeated St. John's 37-to-7. UW-Eau Claire finishes their season 9-3.
