Huskies Advance To Sectional Championship Save Email Print

The Eau Claire North Girls Basketball Team advanced to the Sectional Finals after knocking off cross-town rival Eau Claire Memorial 70-59 at the Eagles Nest Friday Night.

The Old Abes soared out to as much as a seven-point lead in the first quarter, but the Huskies came alive in the second, outscoring Memorial 23-4 over the eight minute span to take a 15 point lead into the half.

Memorial never recovered. The Old Abes season ends at 16-6.

Senior Katie Pospishil led the way for Memorial with 20 points, teammate Chim Okoroji added 17, 9 of which came from three-point range.

Eau Claire North was led by Senior Hannah Quilling, who poured in 23 points including 10 free throws. Fellow Senior Brandi Whyte added 14, as did Junior Guard Sam Price who also led the team with 8 rebounds.

With the win, the Huskies improve to 17-6 on the year, and advance to Saturday Night's Sectional Final which will be played in their home gym against the winner of Marshfield and D.C. Everest.
