Wide receiver Koren Robinson has been released by the Packers, the team announced.

Rumors of Robinson's impending release have been circulating for the past month, and only grew stronger after the Packers drafted two receivers, Jordy Nelson and Brett Swain, in the recent draft. The Packers also signed three receivers as undrafted free agents, giving them 13 on the roster before Robinson's release.

When reached shortly after the draft concluded, Robinson declined to discuss his future with the team and quickly hung up. He has not returned several messages left since then.

The Packers were Robinson's third team since being the ninth overall pick in the 2001 draft by the Seattle Seahawks. Alcohol abuse twice landed Robinson on the league's suspended list, including a year-long suspension that ended Oct. 17 for an arrest that occurred while he was a member of the Minnesota Vikings.

Robinson, who drew strong support in his comeback from retired quarterback Brett Favre, played nine game last season and caught 21 passes for 241 yards and one touchdown. He also finished second on the team with 25 kickoff returns for 596 yards.

A chronic knee injury negated Robinson's once-vaunted speed after his return from suspension. And as the season grew longer and the game-time temperatures colder, Robinson's knee appeared to be even more of a problem in the playoffs.
