Ryan Braun earned a starting spot in the National League outfield for next week's all-star game in New York. It is Braun's first all-star selection. Brewers pitcher Ben Sheets will join Braun in New York, making his 4th appearance in the all-star game.

For much of the voting, Braun had been fourth behind Chicago's Alfonso Soriano and Kosuke Fukudome, the other starters, and Griffey. But a late push and a strong campaign from the Brewers helped Braun get into the top three.

Ben Sheets is on the National League team for the second year in a row and for the fourth time in his career. Corey Hart is one of five National League players eligible for the final spot on the roster, determined by fan voting which runs through Thursday.
