The Milwaukee Brewers have signed their top pick from the June draft.
Eighteen-year-old slugger Brett Lawrie was the 16th pick of the draft out of Langley, British Columbia.
Lawrie is training with the Canadian Olympic team, which departs today for Beijing and won't return until after the August 15th deadline for getting draft picks signed.
Lawrie played third base and other positions with Langley but wants to catch. The Brewers could give him that opportunity.
He won't play professional baseball this summer because of his Team Canada commitment.
