Memorial Boys Drop Sectional Semifinal to Superior

The Eau Claire Memorial boys basketball team started fast, but faded late as the Old Abes lost to Superior 49-46 in the WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinal in Marshfield. The Old Abes' Matt Jacobs started out scorching hot, with four 3-pointers in the first quarter as Memorial built a 10-point lead, but the Spartans used a fourth quarter rally to beat the Abes. Memorial finishes the season with a record of 14-9.
In other WIAA boys action, in Division 4, Gilman defeated Clear Lake 59-40 in the Spooner sectional semifinals. The Pirates will face Butternut in Saturday's sectional championship game.
