Brewers Win Opener

The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 7-to-1 in their season opener.

Ben Sheets is starting the season in dominating style.

Sheets gave up an early home run, then retired his next 22 batters in this afternoon's two-hitter. He allowed Jeff Kent's homer leading off the second and Brady Clark's double with one out in the ninth.

This was Sheets' 12th complete game.

The Brewers' playoff hopes rest heavily on Sheets' shoulders. He's shown flashes of the ability to become an ace since his major league debut with Milwaukee in 2001 but has made only 39 starts in the past two seasons because of injuries.
