As the Glenwood City football team prepares for their WIAA Division 6 Level 3 playoff game Saturday, senior Marcus Ottney is dealing with personal tragedy the only way he knows how.

Marcus' father, Phil, roamed the Hilltoppers sideline for 27 years, winning a state championship as head coach in 1997. Marcus' three older brothers all played for their dad, and in 2006, the youngest followed in their footsteps.

But after Marcus' sophomore year, Phil had to step aside for a bigger battle. He was in the fight of his life against thyroid cancer. Phil passed away in November 2008. Now in his senior season, Marcus and the team want to pay tribute to Phil's legacy by bringing back a gold trophy to Glenwood City.
