The defense returned two interceptions for touchdowns, the special teams blocked two punts, and Carlos Concepcion (Jr, Milwaukee) scored twice as UW-Stout rolled over UW-Platteville, 43-10, Saturday at Don & Nona Williams Stadium.

Stout (7-2, 4-2) ran off to a 29-3 halftime lead and defensive end Marcus Ball (Sr, Austin, Minn) got Stout on the board first. After the teams traded early first quarter interceptions, Ball, on first down, tipped quarterback John Kelly's pass attempt and hauled in the ball for a 14 yard touchdown scamper five minutes into the game.

Stout added another score five minutes later. Backup quarterback Kyle Provos (Sr, Brooklyn Park, Minn) picked up 30 yards on first down on a reverse, and six plays later Concepcion bulled and rolled his way into the end zone. A two-point conversion by quarterback Ross Carey (So, Little Suamico) made the score 15-0.

Carey would be lost for the game before the end of the first quarter, and Provos moved Stout to another score three minutes into the second quarter, capped off by Craig Warminski's (So, Stanley) 1-yard touchdown run.

Kendall Wade (Sr, Milwaukee) stepped in front of a Platteville pass with five minutes left to play and return the pick 36 yards down the visitor's sideline for a TD and a 29-0 Stout lead.

The Pioneers (3-6, 1-5) replaced Kelly with Mitch Shadley and Shadley drove Platteville to the shadow of the goal post where Tony Smidl kicked an 18-yard field goal with no time remaining on the first half clock.

Shadley continued to make it look interesting in the second half when he hit Paul Pridemore for a 49-yard touchdown pass play. three minutes into the half.

Stout's special teams blocked their second punt of the day when Wade laid out for the block and Stout took over at the Platteville 6. Three plays later, Provos ran in from the 1-yard line and it was 36-10.

Stout got the final points of the game for either team late in the third quarter after forcing Platteville on downs. Warminski rushed for seven yards on first down, then reeled off a 52-yard run to the Platteville 9. Concepcion got the call and made good on the play.

On the afternoon, Stout had four interceptions. Shay Lehman (Sr, Edgar) got his career first interception, and Adam Churchill (Jr, Plum City) had a pick in the fourth quarter, matching Wade with four on the year.

The Pioneers outgained Stout and had possession of the ball longer than the Blue Devils. But Stout had short fields all afternoon long, three times starting drives in Platteville territory. Platteville finished with 269 total yards of offense to Stout's 254. The Pioneers gained 228 in the air and 41 on the ground.

The Blue Devils were just reversed, getting 230 yards in rushing, but only 24 by the pass. Warminski finished with 91 yards rushing on 14 carries. Provos racked up 45 yards on seven carries and Concepcion had 36 yards on five carries. Even Ball got into the rushing game for Stout, carrying once for one yard as he played a few snaps as a blocking fullback.

Shadley completed 18-of-25 passes for 207 yards, with Aunton Terry hauling in nine passes for 62 yards, Darin Blaser six catches for 65 yards and Pridemore five catches for 67 yards.

Stout will be at UW-Oshkosh, Saturday, Nov. 14 to close out the regular season.
