In unveiling design plans today, the team says Minnesota-native flowers, trees and shrubs will be planted around the stadium -- including a band of pine trees behind the centerfield wall.
The new park -- tucked into eight acres of the Minneapolis Warehouse District -- will seat 40-thousand fans. It is slated to open in 2010.
Team officials say the ballpark will be fan-friendly. They note the good sightlines and the canopy that will cover nearly the entire seating bowl.
The stadium is estimated to cost 522 (m) million dollars. Construction could begin as early as next month after a stalemate on the stadium site was broken earlier this week.
