Pujols homered twice and had five R-B-Is after entering the game hitting .158 with one homer and two ribbies. Duncan went 4-for-5 with a homer and two runs scored, lifting his average to .412.
Winning pitcher Braden Looper settled down after allowing a pair of first-inning runs. He gave up five hits in six innings to improve to 2-and-1.
The Cards tagged Ben Sheets for seven earned runs and eight hits in five-plus innings. Sheets is 1-and-2.
St. Louis earned its first home win since Game Five of last year's World Series.
