Stout (18-17, 9-11) held a 3-2 lead heading into the ninth inning of the opener, but the Pointers' Tim Schlosser cracked a two run home run down the right field line to lift Stevens Point (19-12, 11-4).
The Pointers took an 1-0 lead in the third, but Stout came back with a run in fifth when Greg Smolinski (Fr, Menasha) scored on a wild pitch. The Pointers took a 2-1 lead in the seventh, but Stout added two runs in the eighth when Erik Johnson's (Jr, La Crosse) single to center scored a run and Luke Schultz's (Sr, Menomonie) bases loaded fielder's choice game gave Stout a 3-2 lead.
In the nightcap, Ben Sivertson (Jr, Elk Mound) worked seven complete innings, striking out seven, to get the win.
The Pointers scored the first run of the contest in the second inning, but Stout countered with six runs in the bottom half of the inning. Ryan Stace (So, Oregon) got the party started with a two run home run, and two Pointer errors contributed to the scoring.
The Pointers added a solo run in the fourth and Stout put on two more runs in the bottom of the inning for an 8-2 lead. Stevens Point doubled their runs total with two runs int the sixth, then added another in the seventh to trail 8-5.
Schultz drove in a run in the seventh and Mike White (Jr, Rochester, Minn) plated a run with a sacrifice fly. Matt Krause (Jr, Bonduel) drove in two runs in the eighth inning with a double to left field to give Stout a 12-5 lead. Stevens Point made the final inning interesting with three runs.
Eric Paul (Jr, Wisconsin Rapids) was 4-for-5 in the second game and 6-for-9 on the day.
Stout is off until Friday, May 4 when they wrap up the WIAC regular season by traveling to UW-Platteville.
