Brewers Blank Cards, Complete Three-game Sweep

Carlos Villanueva pitched four scoreless innings of relief for injured starter Chris Capuano, helping the Milwaukee Brewers complete a three-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals with a 4-to-nothing victory today at Miller Park.

With the wins over the reigning World Series champions, Milwaukee has the best record in baseball at 18-and-9.

Prince Fielder hit a two-run single off Anthony Reyes to help the Brewers' cause.

Milwaukee got its first home sweep of St. Louis since taking four games in April of 2002.

St. Louis has lost five in a row.

The Cardinals are off tomorrow, but players will travel to Tupelo, Mississippi, to attend a memorial service for reliever Josh Hancock, who was killed in a highway wreck early Sunday.

Capuano took a sharp comebacker off his right calf in the second inning and pitched one more inning before he was taken out of the game.

He's expected to be ready for his next scheduled start.
