Morneau Takes Bad Bounce In Loss

Magglio Ordonez and Craig Monroe each drove in two runs. Chad Durbin improved to 3-and-1 with six quality innings in which he allowed two runs.

Since winning two straight against the Tigers in Detroit in late April, the Twins are 3-and-9. Since that last loss to Minnesota two weeks ago, the Tigers are 11-and-1.

Morneau left the game in the eighth inning after a relay throw bounced and broke his nose. He's day to day.

Sidney Ponson fell to 2-and-5.

Twins manager Ron Gardenhire was unable to make it to the dugout for the second straight game today. He's still recovering from surgery on his left knee.

Every 20 minutes or so, Gardenhire is supposed wrap his knee in a cold compression device. That would be difficult to arrange in the dugout. Gardenhire says he didn't want to be on national TV with a machine hooked up to his knee.

Third base coach Scott Ullger was in charge for the Twins game against Detroit at the Metrodome today.
