Van Grunsven Takes Over As Memorial Boys Basketball Coach

Eau Claire Memorial High School is proud to announce the selection of Greg Van Grunsven as its new head boy’s basketball coach. Van Grunsven is an elementary physical education teacher in the Eau Claire School District and has been the Junior Varsity boy’s basketball coach for the past three seasons. Van Grunsven also has six years of experience as a head boy’s basketball coach at Eau Claire Regis High School.

“Greg Van Grunsven is an excellent leader and superb role model for our students and student-athletes at Memorial,” stated Athletic Director Michael Blair. “He is a highly respected teacher and coach and has all the attributes that we are looking for to lead our boy’s basketball program.”

Van Grunsven is a 1988 graduate of Green Bay Preble High School and earned his elementary education degree in 1993 from UW- Eau Claire.

“Greg has been a part of successful basketball programs at both Memorial as an assistant coach and EC Regis as both a head and assistant coach. He is ready to take the step to the head coaching position here at Memorial. His teaching ability, rapport with students and staff, commitment, character, and enthusiasm are all attributes which have and will continue to make him a successful coach,” said Blair.
