Rookie Whips Brewers

Torii Hunter hit a two-run homer as the Twins beat Milwaukee for the fifth time in a row. Most Minnesota players got their hair cut before the game by barber Ramon Ortiz in a show of team unity.

The Brewers have lost seven of nine. Before the slump, they had the best record in the majors at 24-and-ten.

One bright spot for Milwaukee was J-J Hardy, who hit his N-L-leading 14th homer in the first inning. That matches the home run total of his first two seasons. A shortstop hasn't led the N-L in homers this late in the season since 1986 when Hubie Brooks of the Montreal Expos was tied for the lead with 13.

Dave Bush took the loss. He fell to three-and-four.
