The Eau Claire North baseball team did it the hard way, rallying for five runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to beat D.C. Everest 7-to-6 at Carson Park Tuesday evening. The Huskies, the number-one ranked team in the state, trailed 6-2 going to the bottom of the 7th. North's Alex Burian pulled the Huskies with a run at 6-5 on a three-run homer. Later, North's Mickey Boyle coaxed a bases loaded walk to tie the game at 6, then the next batter Mitch Running executed a perfect suicide-squeeze bunt to score Ryan Iverson with the game-winning run. The Huskies advance to next Tuesday's WIAA State Tournament at Fox Cities Stadium near Appleton. North's Division 1 quarterfinal opponent will be Wisconsin Lutheran. Meanwhile, in Division 3, Eau Claire Regis scored twice in their last at-bats to beat Ladysmith 8-to-7 to capture the Osseo-Fairchild sectional. John Frommelt hit a game-winning two-run double to right-center to plate the winning runs. Eau Claire Regis will take on Kenosha-St. Joseph's in next Wednesday's Division 3 state semifinals.
