Throwing for 5 shutout innings before being recalled back in the game to close out the victory,Phil Isaksson led the North Huskies to the 4-1 victory over Wisconsin Lutheran in their Division 1 WIAA State Quarterfinal.
Wisconsin Lutheran grounded out in their first at-bat, and after that Isaksson made quick work of the Vikings, striking out the next 8 consecutive batters through 3 innings.
The Huskies posted four runs thanks to Mitch Running's 2RBI single in the second, Ryan Iverson's RBI double in the fifth, and Davey Fischer's single in the same inning.
Isaksson turned the game over to Trevor Madson in the 6th, but when the Vikings added a 7th inning run with the bases loaded, Isaksson was brought back into the game to close out the win, striking out the final two batters.
Each pitcher is limited to 7 innings pitched for the State Tournament, leaving Isaksson 1.3 innings left for any remaining tournament games.
