Brewers, Vargas agree to one-year deal
Reliever Claudio Vargas has agreed to a one-year contract to stay with the Milwaukee Brewers.

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Reliever Claudio Vargas has agreed to a one-year contract to stay with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The 31-year-old right-hander went a combined 1-0 with a 1.74 ERA in 36 relief appearances for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee last season while holding opponents to a .177 batting average. He did not allow a run in his final 13 appearances.
Vargas began the season on the disabled list with tendinitis in his right elbow, then was activated July 3 and went 0-0 with a 1.64 ERA in eight appearances before his July 31 trade. Vargas went 1-0 with a 1.78 ERA in 28 games with the Brewers.
