Former Wisconsin Badger running back and 1999 Heisman Trophy winner Ron Dayne made his way to Eau Claire Monday night, paying visits to the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley and The Barley Club, where he signed copies of his new book, "The Dayne Game".
In front of nearly 500 fans, Dayne spent three hours signing almost 400 copies of his book, which details his 1999 season with Wisconsin, a campaign that saw him break the NCAA Division 1 record for most career rushing yards. That performance helped lead him to the Heisman Trophy while propelling the Badgers to their second straight Big Ten Conference and Rose Bowl titles.
"It's just been great being able to meet these people I never got to meet," said Dayne about his visit. "Especially here in Eau Claire, [a] great place, a lot of great fans."
Before signing autographs, Dayne started his visit by speaking to kids at the Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Chippewa Valley. Part of the proceeds from his book signing, more than one thousand dollars will go towards the Boys and Girls Club.
In case you were unable to make Monday night's book signing event and would still like to purchase a copy, you can go to www.kcipublishing.com for ordering information.
