Silva Shines

The Twins attacked Braves starter Chuck James early. After back-to-back first inning singles by Joe Mauer and Michael Cuddyer, Morneau got his first RBI on a groundout. Torii Hunter's single drove in Cuddyer.

The Twins strayed from their usual practice of manufacturing runs and opted to go deep three times. Lew Ford hit his first home run of the year in the second inning to give the Twins a three-run lead. Cuddyer led off the third with a double and then Morneau and Hunter hit back-to-back home runs, a feat they last performed Opening Day.

Starter Carlos Silva allowed the leadoff man to reach base in each of the first four innings, but was able to keep him from scoring.
