The reigning A-L M-V-P homered on the second pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Minnesota Twins to a 10-to-9 victory over the Brewers this afternoon.
The homer bailed out teammate Lew Ford, whose two fielding miscues in the top of the inning allowed Milwaukee to tie the game off closer Joe Nathan.
Ford had a career-high four R-B-Is, but nearly cost the Twins the game in the ninth.
He lost Prince Fielder's sky-high pop-up in the Metrodome's white roof, which the 262-pound Fielder turned into an inside-the-park homer to make the score 9-8.
Later in the inning, Ford double-clutched on a sacrifice fly from Craig Counsell and Bill Hall scored easily to tie the game.
Morneau hit his 20th homer of the season off Chris Spurling in the bottom of the inning to help the Twins avoid a sweep.
