Former Wisconsin Badgers hockey standout and Eau Claire native Jake Dowell signed a professional contract today with the Chicago Blackhawks. A two-year deal that includes a $250,000 signing bonus.
Dowell scored 19 goals in 41 games for the Badgers during his senior season, Jake then went to the Chicago Blackhawks minor league team, the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL and played nine games, scoring five points including two goals. Dowell will take part in the Blackhawks summer camp next week in Bensenville, a Chicago suburb, then will go to the Hawks training camp in September leading up to the start of the NHL regular season in October.
