Chieftains unafraid to play physical against St. Croix Falls
To advance to Saturday's Division 3 sectional final and keep their hopes of a WIAA state tournament berth alive, the Osseo-Fairchild girls basketball team knows it will need to grind out a win over St. Croix Falls Thursday night.

One round after pulling out a hard-fought victory over Eau Claire Regis, the Osseo-Fairchild girls basketball team is preparing for another physical matchup Thursday night when they take on St. Croix Falls in a Division 3 sectional semifinal.
Despite limited knowledge and experience playing St. Croix Falls, the Chieftains are drawing upon their strategy from this year's regional semifinal against Boyceville to prepare for Thursday. To emerge with the victory, Osseo-Fairchild knows it needs to attack the basket on each offensive possession.
"Driving in, not being afraid to get fouled or take the ball up strong," said Chieftains senior guard Jamie Mattison. "Just doing the little things right. They're pretty physical. I mean, it's going to be like Boyceville again. We're going to be in another physical match. It's something to look forward to, though."
Instead of shying away from a tougher opponent, Chieftains senior Letaya Mulhern likes her team's chances as the physicality of a game increases.
"I think a physical game is to our advantage," Mulhern said. "We like to rough it up a bit. St. Croix Falls will be a tough game, but we're hoping for the best, I guess."
