The Eau Claire Memorial hockey team sits second in the Big Rivers conference, having won six straight games. If the Old Abes make yet another trip to state, one of the big reasons will be because of tonight's Gordy's Athlete of the Week,Brady Bollinger. Jenn Chapman has more on the Old Abes forward.

Memorial's Brady Bollinger has grown from seeing limited time on the ice as a freshman to captain of the Old Abes program as a senior.

"My role is to obviously provide a good model for the younger players," says Bollinger. "(and) maybe spark the team a little bit in games where we haven't been playing very well."

"His best attribute is his defensive play on the ice," says Old Abes head coach Mike Schwengler. "He's a good playmaker and a very unselfish hockey player, and he likes to use his teammates.

Brady leads the Old Abes in points with 17 goals and 20 assists, but those numbers are background noise as Brady keeps the focus on Memorial's winning ways.

"Stats during the regular season are nice but really game time is for the end of the season," says Bollinger. "People expect us to go to state every year. We expect it of ourselves to go to state every year, so there's a lot of pressure but we're a good program and handle it well."

"Every senior class doesn't want to be known as the class that didn't make it to state. And you know he is a big part of that class that we have," adds Schwengler. "You know, as a captain on this team, his goal is to keep keep this program moving forward and he's done everything he can to do that."
