Augusta high school football preview

While the majority of high school football teams from around the state open up their seasons Friday night, the Augusta Beavers will play their opener Saturday night against Lake Holcombe at UW-Stout. The Beavers were 2-5 in the Dairyland conference last year, but finished their season strong with two wins. Augusta hopes to carry that momentum into 2012.
Neil Bygd, Augusta head coach says, "Very excited about this group of kids, we've had a tremendous off-season. The guys really busted their butt in the weight room, really bought in. I think it's direct correlation to our final two victories last season and we're really excited to hopefully carry it over to this season."
Tanner Walker, senior fullback/linebacker says, "I feel pretty good, I feel we're going to have a strong team and a good shot at the conference. We have a great set of backs and we have a strong defense, so it's just a matter of getting our offense thrown together in the season."
