MADISON, Wis- (WEAU) The Wisconsin men's basketball team (26-7) received a No. 2 seed in the West Region and will face 15th-seeded American (20-12) in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament on Thursday at the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wis.
Wisconsin is making its 16th-consecutive trip to the Big Dance.

This is the second time Wisconsin has drawn a 2-seed in the NCAA tournament, equaling the highest seeding in school history.

Tip time for the first-ever meeting between the Badgers and Eagles will be announced later Sunday.

Wisconsin owns a 25-18 record all-time in the NCAA tournament, including a 16-12 mark under head coach Bo Ryan, who has led the Badgers to NCAA bids in each of his 13 seasons in Madison.

The winner of the second-round matchup will face the winner of a game between No. 7 seed Oregon and No. 10 BYU.

The Badgers are a No. 2 seed after earning a No. 5 seed last season and earning a No. 4 seed in each of the preceding three seasons -- which included a pair of runs to the Sweet 16 in 2011 and 2012. UW has earned a top-six seed in 11 of its 13 NCAA tournament appearances under Ryan.

This is the eighth time the Badgers have earned a top-five seed under Ryan, going 6-1 in the first round when seeded fifth or higher.

American earned an automatic bid to the tournament with a 55-36 win over Boston University in the Patriot League championship game on March 12.

Important news regarding NCAA tournament tickets
UW Athletics receives an extremely limited number of tickets (550) from the NCAA for the second/third round tournament games in Milwaukee. In turn, the ticket allotment received from the NCAA will be used to accommodate requests from a wide variety of constituents including men’s basketball coaches/student-athlete families, UW administration, UW students, UW Athletics donors, and men’s basketball season ticket holders.

The limited number of tickets available to donors and men’s basketball season ticket-holders have sold out to donors at the Ambassador’s Circle giving level.

Tickets may still be available through Ticketmaster. If you wish to purchase all-session tickets directly from Ticketmaster, please click on the link.
