Badgers get important double overtime victory over Iowa

The Wisconsin men's basketball team dug deep Wednesday night, pulling of an critical double overtime victory over Iowa at the Kohl Center. UW rallied from a nine-point deficit late in regulation and then, after missing two three-pointers in the final seconds of the first overtime, got a huge 3-pointer from freshman Sam Dekker while the rest of the team hit 6 of 6 free-throw attempts in the final 24 seconds of the second overtime to escape with a 74-70 victory over the Hawkeyes Thursday night at the Kohl Center. The victory allowed UW (16-7, 7-3 Big Ten) to move into a tie for fourth place with Ohio State (17-5, 7-3) and within a game of the top three teams in the league. UW trails Michigan State (19-4, 8-2) and Michigan (21-2, 8-2) by one game and first-place Indiana (20-2, 8-1) by 1 ½ games. The Wolverines, who recorded a 76-74 overtime victory over Ohio State on Tuesday, visit the Kohl Center at 11 a.m. Saturday.
