EAU CLAIRE, Wis (WEAU)-It's this time of year area bars get most excited for. Football games pack in the fans, and that means money too.

Bars around Eau Claire are gearing up for a new season after a slow summer. Hoping that the games will attract plenty of fans.

For Joe Bowe this is his first football season as a bartender.

“This will be the 1st Sunday packer game. I started 5 months ago and haven’t worked a preseason game,” said Bowe, bartender at Playmakers.

His coworkers have already warned him about what to expect on packer game days.

“We apparently get very busy since we have great drink and food deals,” said Bowe.

But the possibility of having a full bar has only excited him more.

The NFL season opener Wednesday night didn’t have too many fans lining up at the door at Playmakers but owner Dave Preston says that he expects Sunday to be very different.

Sunday is the Packers first season game.
