Blugolds Holding Cancer Awareness Night on Wednesday

Wednesday, the UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team will continue a tradition of giving back to the community which supports them on the court.

The Blugolds will be holding their "Shoot for a Cure" cancer awareness night at the Zorn Arena when they take on UW-Oshkosh.

All proceeds from the event will go to the American Cancer society.
The Blugolds have had their struggles on the court this season, but head coach Tonja Englund knows they can make a difference in the community outside of the court.

"I think if you ask anyone right now, we love this team. We're a family. We've had some ups and downs. And we're close. We're close to getting to the top and finishing one of those big games but in the process of all of that. We're aware that we can make a difference in our community. And for my team, I'm very proud of them because they are always involved in local events. They reach out, we just had a 150 Blugold buddies. They're very excited about this event because obviously it's impacted their lives and they know that they're role models. And they know that people coming into the arena tomorrow night have been impacted by this and that it should hopefully be a great event for everyone."
