The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team picked up a victory in their WIAC conference opener this past Saturday against UW-La Crosse. The Blugolds getting a spark off their bench from senior guard Casteele Miller. The former Eau Claire Regis standout, who scored 14 points says she's ready to contribute whenever she's called upon.
Casteele Miller says, "I always have a role no matter what, whether I'm in the game or not in the game and as a captain it's important to do what you can, and when you get that chance you have to take it and run, and tonight the shots were going for me. It's just rewarding for me that all the time that I've put in and getting up the extra shots outside of practice has really paid off."
Blugolds women's basketball coach Tonja Englund says, "Everybody is going to get their opportunity and you have to seize the day when you get your opportunity and I know that Casteele worked very hard over the summer. She's one of our three captains and as a senior they have to elevate their games because we are so young and I thought Casteele showed a lot of poise when she went in, didn't try to do too much, just did what she does well, she hit a lot of key shots for us."
