Crews getting hill ready for this weekend’s Silvermine Invitational

(WEAU) - The 127th annual Silvermine Ski Invitational is this weekend in Eau Claire.

It will be two days of ski jumping with athletes from around the world. This year's event is more prestigious as it brings the North American Nordic Championships to the Chippewa Valley.

Crews were working out on the hill Monday afternoon and the newly re-modeled in-run is complete. Event organizer Dan Mattoon expects a great weekend of family fun. "It's very exciting to be able to jump our hill, basically a brand new jump, which is up to fifth certification standards which is international jumping standards and we needed to do that to get this North American Nordic bid and we were able to do that and now we have jumpers coming from around the world and all over the United States and Canada of course, and we're pretty excited."

Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate for this weekend's 127th Silvermine Ski Invitational and USA Cup & North American Ski Jumping Championships. Kids 12 and under get in for free.
