The Eau Claire Regis football team will face their toughest test of the season Friday night in Chippewa Falls when the Ramblers square off against Edgar in a Division 6, Level 4 showdown. The Wildcats won back-to-back state championships in 2009 and 2010. Back in 2009, Edgar beat the Ramblers in the D6 championship game in Madison. The Wildcats scored on a crazy tipped pass play on their first possession and never looked back, routing Regis that day, 46-7.
Three years later, the Ramblers get another shot at Edgar, coach Bryant Brenner says his team has plenty of respect for the Wildcats.
"We expect a great game, we have nothing but respect for Edgar, they are one of the best small schools in the state. Their record speaks for itself, they're well-coached, their kids work really hard, there's no secret to their success. It's just a lot of hard work and they spend a lot of time in it. We have nothing but respect for them and we're hopeful that we can play with them this year."
