Express end season with 7-1 win over Mankato

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. -- The Eau Claire Express finished up their regular season of the Northwoods League with a win at home against Mankato.

In a 7-1 effort, the Express picked up their 20th win of the 2nd half in the Northwoods League ending them with a .500 record overall at 36-36. A 6th place finish in the North Division may not have been what they hoped for, but the team played hard all summer long.

Head coach Dale Varsho says, "First of all, the guys. The guys are great. Win or lose, really good character guys. Stealing home with Turbin the other day, and Salters and Mundell these guys can flat out hit. It's fun to watch them and hopefully get some guys back and continue it."

Says 3rd baseman Tyler Hermann, "We ended out with a bang and got a win against these guys, and it's been a fun year. A great group of guys and coaches, so it's just been a lot of fun."

Outfielder Brady Burzynski adds, "It was fun tonight to win in front of quite a few fans on the last day. The crowd was pretty into it. It's nice to have some local guys that I know up here playing with. It's fun to win the last game."
