Last year after 7-years of frustration, the Colfax football team made it to the playoffs.
That experience has the players on this years squad chomping at the bit to return to the postseason. Senior Jeremiah Waits is part of the hungry squad ready to get on the field and prove that last year wasn't a fluke.
"We want to continue that and make a tradition of the playoffs, we want to become a powerhouse. We have been in the dumps of the Dunn-St.Croix and we would like to rise to the top and show them what we got."
Head coach Mark Maloney likes the energy his team is showing in practice so far.
"This senior class we have 13 kids out for football and 1 more possibly on his way out. We have an excellent senior class. Most coaches like to have that and everybody says it every year, I say it every year, but this is an exceptional class. This is my class I have taken up since freshman year and now they are seniors this year. A lot of them have been playing varsity football for four years here, so they are pretty excited about that."
"Playoffs is in our realm this year. It took us awhile to get to the playoffs last year, the last game we had to win to get into the playoffs. We are hoping we can qualify for the playoffs a littler earlier and contend for a conference championship. This is my fourth year as a head coach and sixth in the Dunn-St.Croix, and the Dunn-St.Croix is just a tough conference."
