This Saturday, October 13th, former Eau Claire Regis girls basketball coach Jim Negrini will be inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Sports Director Bob Gallaher sat down with Coach Negrini recently who says his induction is truly a humbling honor.
Negrini says, "When you look at it, it was really worth the effort, and the time, obviously when you actually get the award it's really a nice thing for you and you look back and say everything I did it was worth it, when you get your peers to nominate you and elect you in there it's a very nice award and very humbling."
Coach Negrini won back-to-back WISAA state championships with Eau Claire Regis in the early 90's, totaling 210 victories with the Ramblers. He also coached at Osseo-Fairchild and Eleva-Strum, his complete body of work, 317 career wins, he admits that his time at Regis was special.
Negrini says, "Winning championships probably has several things involved, but most important is that you have to have talent, and I was blessed with very talented young ladies."
Jim says his family and friends will be excited when he receives his award this weekend, recognition of a job well done.
"It's kind of the end of my career, it's like you have it in your hand, this is it, and how nice it is, and I'm going to be pleased with looking over at the people and saying geez I got this and I'm really pleased."
