Memorial opens season at Metrodome with a win

Jake Sparger gave up two hits and struck out 12 as Eau Claire Memorial defeated Milwaukee Riverside 10-0 at the Metrodome.

Sparger also had what looked to be a inside-the-park home run, but failed to touch third base and was awarded an RBI double.

The Old Abes have opened their season at the Metrodome the past few seasons, but it was necessary this year due to all the moisture and snow on the ground.

The Metrodome is scheduled to be demolished following this NFL season to make way for the new Vikings football stadium.
