In Northwoods League baseball on Wednesday night at Carson Park, the La Crosse Loggers hammered the Eau Claire Express 10-2, while in American Legion baseball, Eau Claire Pizza Hut tops Altoona 13-1.

In high school basketball news, Andy Meade stepped down at Colfax boys basketball varsity coach on Monday after 19 seasons that included two different stints on the Vikings sideline. Meade talked about his decision, "I just think it's time, I think our program is in great shape, I think the future looks good and I wanted to make sure that when I did choose to leave that I left it in a position where I think it's in really good shape. We still have real good players and I think now is a good time. I can't think of a better place in the state of Wisconsin to coach high school basketball than Colfax high school. Anybody who has been at a Colfax-Elk Mound basketball game can tell you that the atmosphere is electric. It's what small school basketball is all about and I've been so honored and so lucky to be a part of that."
