With the London Olympics starting in about two weeks, a pair of Olympic bound athletes are in Wausau this week competing in the junior and under 23 canoe slalom world championships.
Kayakers Casey Eichfeld and Caroline Queen will be representing the United States in London.
The 20 year old Queen will be making her Olympic debut in London, while the 23 year old Eichfeld will be making his second appearance in the games as he compete in Beijing 4-years ago.
Both athletes are excited to represent their country and are hoping to use this weeks event as a tune up to success in London.
Caroline Queen:
"Here in Wausau, i think you're sorta building up strength and endurance and the London course is definitely very physically demanding so i hope that training here this week will benefit me in that way but also just being home and having this opportunity to race a big race in the U.S. Is just fun."
Casey Eichfeld:
"It's almost like a mock Olympics to me. I'm doing everything that I'm going to be doing at the Olympics or at least hope to be doing at the Olympics or at least hope to be doing at the Olympics, just kind of to, it's basically like a dry run."
