UW-Stout football team looking to turn program around

By  |

The UW-Stout football team will open their season Saturday in Menomonie when the Blue Devils take on Dakota Wesleyan. The Blue Devils went 3-7 a year ago but Coach Clayt Birmingham says his team has worked hard this camp and eager to turn the program around, "I really liked the chemistry on our team, I thought it was a blue collar group. There wasn't a lot of stars, not as many egos. Just a lot of kids working very hard together, very impressed with that. And then throughout the summer, our kids came into camp in shape and they're just ready to be dedicated and committed to this season and I'm excited for the first game."
Quarterback Hank Kujak agrees, "Guys are really buying in and I don't think we had a lot of guys buying in, in the previous years, we had some. This year I can tell, kids want to change, kids are sick of losing on Saturdays so the big thing our commitment and I see it in a lot of our guys."
